Hi,

A few weeks ago I installed several sites on ip's like http://12.123.123.12/~account1/

This doesn't work now, when I try that it says: Could not resolve hostname (is the website live?)

Can you help me out on this please?

Thanks!

Regards,

Toony

Can you make sure that the same URL is set under WordPress settings in your backend?

It seems that 12.123.123.12 is not live on the Internet, that's why you get the given error message. I just tried pinging it, but no response.

That was just a demo ip for the forum question, the real ip's are 46.23.74.30 and 46.23.75.148

When I install Wordpress on the ip, then I can overwrite with Managewp (existing site option) successfully. It wont see the ip as live when I try to do a new install with Managewp (new site option) on an ip.

Hi Toony

We'd love to debug this and see what is the problem when cloning to the IP address as opposed to an existing website on the same IP.

Could you please email us details at support@managewp.com

Hi Guys!

I am having the same issue.

I am taking a clone of a current site, lets call mike.com and cloning it to an IP address with no domian for a design refresh.

I have no current WP install and created a fresh DB and user name on the IP using cpanel.

I get the error: Error selecting MySQL database: Access denied for user 'mike_wp'@'localhost' to database 'mike_wp'.

I would love to help trouble shoot.

Mike

Hi Mike,

This error message usually means that entered MySQL credentials are not correct or the user is not associated with database.

Can you please double-check them or ask your hosting support for correct database login details.

I'll check on that today.

It should work with an IP as the address though, correct?

Hi,

That is correct.

Enter the IP address of the site on the cloning screen in the – Website URL – field.
