OfflineI have websites on Hostrocket – works fine, although they have an IP filter which causes me problems locally when running dynamic IPs. I have websites on Hostmonster, which also works very well. All these are in my hosting account. I have one client account in GoDaddy hosting (with another company) and that one causes endless problems. Don't know whether it is GoDaddy or the fact that I can't access the hosting account itself.

OfflineI have 7 sites on Dataflame with whom I have been for several years. They are excellent and provide good 24/7 support.
All my sites are non-profits so funding is a big issue and I currently have just 3 sites using the free option of ManageWP which works without issues.

OfflineI had 20 to 25 sites on a shared VPS with Hostgator with no problem. Oddly, once I moved to a dedicated server, i started having issues. I'm getting database time outs when I try to use the Manage Plugins, while it is searching through the 40 sites I have in there now it causes the database to become overwhelmed.
What I'm beginning to suspect is when using the shared hosting, hostgator throttles memory and CPU. They don't tell you that until you ask why a full server would be better that has less memory adn then they revieled the CPU and Memory were throttled on the VPS accounts. I think with the CPU and memory running at full steam the plugin is able to really kick into high gear. I have the read and write now set to 2 and they delay set to 1000ms.
I didn't have any problems until I used the wonderful clone util in manageWP to create 10 new sites (except after moving the server my backups started to fail too. I can no longer compress most of them and that seems to be resolving that problem). Now I do have one large site with over 10,000 pages so that may be part of the problems I'm having. Its just od to me I had few problems on the VPS than I am on the server. But, when I first got the VPS, I had a lot of tickets open then. So it may take some tweaking to fit my needs and it will get better soon.
All sites are WP/Cpanel. It just occurred to me the 10 sites I added the other day were all in sub domians. I wouldn't think that would mattter but perhaps it would. I wasn't scanning those today though when I was using the search for active programs. That hung my database twice.

jezweb,
I'm having trouble using managewp's backup feature with Rackspace Cloud Sites. How did you make it work?
Thanks,
Danny Nelson

Rackspace Cloudsites requires you to use SFTP (secure FTP). To my knowledge. ManageWP does not have a tick box or drop down to specify a secure FTP connection/host. Shame. Most serious applications have an option for secure ftp — more and more upscale hosts are requiring secure FTP, so why Manage WP missed this, IDK.
