New interface, Enhanced security, Remote dashboard plus lots of cool new features

Few months in the making, we are finally able to present you the whole new ManageWP.com service. This is the biggest update since we started almost two years ago and we are happy to show you what we’ve got for you.

New interface

Enter the new, completely redesigned interface. Our primary goal was to save you even more time.

Dashboard presents only the most important information including quick links to upgrade your blogs.

Left sidebar has the links to all the common tasks as well as the site and groups list, now reorganized and really easy to use.

Enhanced security

We have invested heavily to ensure your data is safe and introduced several novelties.

The  old XML-RPC protocol is gone and with it the need to enter your blog passwords anymore. You now only need the website URL and the admin username that you want to use.

Furthermore, all communication between ManageWP and worker plugin is now using an SSL encrypted protocol. When it’s not available, it automatically falls back to our own encryption. Read more.

Remote dashboard

One of the most requested features was to be able to login into the site admin directly from within ManageWP interface. We have listened and created the new remote dashboard functionality.

Simply click on your site name on the left side and it’s WordPress dashboard will open right there in ManageWP! You can do anything you’d like on the site, it’s the same as if you were logged into it.

Developer API

If you are a developer you will be happy to find out that we published first API calls that will ultimately allow you to modify the way your dashboard works. Read more about ManageWP API.

Other cool features

It is much easier to add sites to your account now, there are no more problems related to hosting and server configurations.

Another feature you requested is to have notes for every site. We added it – just click the Notes button above the site remote dashboard.

How about searching for a post across all of your sites? No problem, just enter a keyword and ManageWP will do the rest.

ManageWP can also keep your database tables in shape, with automatic weekly optimizations.

Import from CSV is much easier since all that is needed is the URL and the admin username. Additionally you can now specify the group name(s) for sites in the CSV file.

We improved the backup and clone features and confirmed them working on a wide range of different hosts.

There are few more things you’ll notice, log in to check them all out.

Worker upgrades

In order to use all the new features it is necessary to update worker plugins on your sites. ManageWP will offer to do this automatically when you log in. If it fails, you may need to install the latest version of the plugin manually and re-add the sites to your dashboard.

Most common problem with automatic upgrade failing is when your site is on a server where WordPress does not have write permissions and requires FTP login . You can overcome this and avoid future problems by following this tip on FTP permissions.

Send us feedback

Your feedback is very important to us. Many ideas that made this service so great came from you.

We use a new site for your ideas  which uses Google moderator, and allows other users to vote on them. Click to open it.

Also you can quickly send us private feedback through ManageWP interface. Look for smiley icons on the bottom of the screen once you are logged in. We’d love to hear from you!

If you are a member click here to login and check out the new ManageWP.

I’m sure I don’t understand this fully, but, does this fill the similar need that WP MU does – to have a centralized place from which to manage all your sites?

And if so, what are the pros and cons of using one vs the other.

Sounds very impressive by the way, I’m quite interested.

ManageWP is very different to WPMU. Best is to create an account and explore everything that ManageWP can do for you.

Oh right – I downloaded that but thought “Well, it can’t be that, I need Wp-Manage-Plugin”

    I’m on it!
    Thanks guys…

    Sorry for the stress! 🙂

Existing layout was good but this is more intuitive

Logging directly into the wp individual site from within
the centralised managedwp dashboard is a crucial gain

Sill a little unclear within the cloning functions as to
    1) how to clone from the original to a subdomain of the existing domain/ or subdomain of another domain
    2) how to clone from the original to a page of the existing domain/ or page of another domain ( taking advantage of WordPress 3 Multi User Capability ); that does not appear to feature in the form of direction/ advice or obvious function within the dashboard.

    Kindest Regards Sean Daniel
