I’ve put together some pretty solid themes for you for this lovely month of May. Images stand loud and proud yet again, which makes sense since that’s the general design trend of WordPress themes as a whole. All five of my selections this month are fully responsive and well suited to blogs and portfolios.
Like what you see here? Feel free to let me know in the comments. Or, let me know about some other themes that have caught your eye this month.
5. TimeTurner
TimeTurner is an attractive theme that can easily be used for any blog or portfolio site. It’s responsive, so you’ll know your content looks as you intended no matter what device on which a visitor views it. The theme also comes with 3 color schemes to choose from. A nice added bonus is the 220 Google fonts included. And if you want to make any changes, just go to the Theme Options Panel and make your selections. TimeTurner is available in many languages.
The theme has a sort of classic style that demands attention. It’s not the fanciest theme in the world, but that’s perfectly okay in my book.
4. SKT Full Width
The SKT Full Width theme is designed to put images front and center. By showcasing full width imagery, the theme allows your content to speak for itself. The theme features a customizable slider background onto which you can place optional text. You can also customize the logo, layout, contact, and social icons with no problem.
This theme is fully responsive and is ideal for bloggers, photographers, design studios, and portfolio sites. An attractive choice for bloggers that want to showcase their photography skills (or stock photo selecting skills).
3. Tesla
Telsa is usually a premium theme but the developers are running a special promotion right now that give it a spot on our free list this month. Tesla is fully responsive and sports all the latest features that the Tesla Framework offers. It’s perfect for portfolios or corporate sites, offering ample space to highlight your latest projects, your service lists, and more. It includes sliders with plenty of transition effects, shortcodes, an AJAX form, social media, and more.
To get this theme, you simply need to go to the developer’s site and register. Then, Like their Facebook page and send a message via Facebook with your TeslaThemes username. You’ll get access to the theme shortly thereafter.
2. Catch Kathmandu
If you want a theme that shines a spotlight on your content, then Catch Kathmandu is a good choice. Not only is it fully responsive, but it was also built on HTML5 and CSS3 so it’s up to date. You can customize the layout considerably without much effort. Plenty of prominent areas to feature high quality photography, too, which is important since we all know the importance of images online.
Catch Kathmandu is translation ready.
1. Formation
My top choice this month is called Formation. It’s a simple theme that checks off all the boxes in terms of the minimalistic, elegant, and useful themes I gravitate toward. The theme features a slider up top with overlaid text, text/image areas below that lend themselves well to service listings, and several layout templates for making your site as custom as you need it to be.
You can also upload your own logo and header and include social media links. It’s fully responsive and full-width so it’s going to look great no matter what device on which it’s accessed. A total gem, this one.
