This month I’ve had some excellent themes to choose from and had a tough time narrowing them down!
In this edition of our Themes of of the Month series we’re all about clean, simple design that transfers well to tablets and mobile devices.
They are all simple to use and customize ensuring that you can easily convey a unique style and brand on your site.
Whether you’re showcasing images, videos, blog posts, or all of the above, one of these designs will be the perfect fit for you. Enjoy!
5. Iconic One
Iconic One is a premium theme built for speed with a Google Page Speed score of 95+. It’s perfect for your SEO needs and is compatible with All in One SEO Pack and WordPress SEO by Yoast.
It’s a simple, straightforward theme that’s easy to use. The bonus is, if you do encounter any glitches, support is free.
4. Icy
Icy is an attractive theme with somewhat elegant overtones. It has a responsive layout, is child theme friendly, and has easy to customize features (including no less than six widget areas).
3. Tuesday
Tuesday is a free responsive theme with a minimalistic style that is perfect for bloggers.
There are three layouts to choose from, as well as the option to add a blog logo. Header images and background settings are supported and there are also custom widgets and menus. Tuesday is optimized for phones and tablets.
2. Untitled
Untitled is a simple yet striking theme which instantly grabbed my attention.
Its layout would suit all kinds of websites and it is capable of presenting high quality photographic content and videos in a bold and beautiful fashion. It has full-bleed featured posts and great featured image support too.
1. Highwind
I really like this theme, hence why it’s number one this month! It has a clean, simple, yet elegant design which is fully responsive and designed to showcase content.
There are plenty of presentation, widget and typography options to allow you to give your site a really unique feel, as well as loads of hooks and filters to extend and customize Highwind via plugins and/or a child theme.

I like all of them but I really, really like Iconic One – just the classic clean lines and simplicity of it all.

There’s a lot of bad free themes, but I liked this selection, specially #2. The only thing is how secure are they?

Cool to see my theme (Highwind) featured here, thanks Tom! If you wanted to add a demo link for it (noticed some of the others had demo links) feel free to use my site; http://jameskoster.co.uk.
Cheers!

My pleasure James! I’ll get that link up ASAP 🙂

Hey Tom, can you please do a list of top plugins for the EU Cookie Directive. I always find myself searching for a Cookie Directive plugin for WordPress because there seems to be a lack of quality plugins that work well with sites and dont cause extra issues – be nice to see a list on here and see what is what. Let me know if this is something you feel could be useful as I see the lists you made before as very handy to see what is being developed and used out there. Cheers

I’ll give this some thought — thank you for the suggestion!
