As you know security has always been important to us, and with the new ManageWP Orion dashboard, we are taking extra precautions to make sure it is as secure as possible. This means we are introducing the Google Authenticator to ManageWP.
How Does Google Authenticator Work
Google Authenticator is a mobile app that adds two factor authentication to your account login to help keep your data safe. After Google Authenticator is installed on your mobile device and ManageWP is connected to Google Authenticator, you’ll need to auto-generate a Google Authenticator passcode on your mobile device to log in to your ManageWP account.
Where To Find The Two Factor Authentication
You can find it in the top right corner, under Settings > Security.
How To Set Up Two Factor Authentication
It’s very easy to set up the Google Authenticator, you can either do it by copying the code directly into you phone, or scanning the unique barcode displayed. This will only take a few seconds. In case you misplace your phone or it get’s stolen, there is also a link you can click on to change your code, and keep your dashboard secure. Of course if you can not access any of your devices and are worried about your dashboard security, you can contact our support, and they will help you with setting up a new two authentication code.
Stay safe!
Armin
The QR code is no longer displayed. 1Password only allows adding 2FA by QR code. Can you fix that, please.
Marko Tanaskovic
Hi Armin,
There is no issue with the QR code service but I personally checked ‘just in case’ to be sure. It generated the QR code for me without any issues.
If you are experiencing issues, please reach out to our Support team which can help to troubleshoot any issue you encounter with the service.
Filipe

Thanks for the fix, it works indeed !
Nevena Tomovic
Brilliant! 🙂 Sorry to have kept you waiting, glad it has all been fixed now!

It works great, but it would be nice if you can (as Google, Paypal, Microsoft are doing) to remember trusted devices for f.i. 30 days (as an option). Now, you have to generate a code every time, which is not so user friendly. But is is safe for sure 😉
Nevena Tomovic
Hey,
Thanks for your comment. Did you also see we have a remember me checkbox? That should do the trick and make sure you don’t have to reenter everything every single time.

Nevena

Hi Nevena, yes I saw this, but it doesn’t work for me.
I’m using Google Chrome, both on Mac OSX and Windows.
Nevena Tomovic
Hey,
Ah apologies for this! This must be an issue on our side. I will let our engineers know asap and we will fix that for you. If it doesn’t work after a few days, put in a ticket to our support as well, and they will track and resolve the issue with you.
Thanks for letting us know 🙂

Ok, thanks for the follow up !
Chello
This appears to be an authentication system that is made for mobile devices. how are we to use it if we do not use a mobile device to log into orion?
Nevena Tomovic
Hey Chello, you can use it with Chrome for example. It’s not just for mobile phones, Google Authenticator has a Chrome extension that you can install and add.
Hope that helps.

Nevena

Any more news on this one ?

Please ignore my previous message?
Let me reprase: any more news on the issue where you always have to log in again when multifactor auth is enabled? (despite that option ‘remember me’ is selected)
Nevena Tomovic
Hey there,
We are working on this as we speak, so it should be sorted out soon. Thanks for checking in. We will update you when it gets fixed.
Thanks,
Nevena

Nevena Tomovic

All fixed for you!
Check it out.
