Choose this option if your destination website isn’t connected to ManageWP or if you want to use an empty server.
Please note that you’ll have to have a database created and your FTP and database details prepared in advance.
We recommend testing everything (including the FTP path to the destination folder) before you start the template transfer. If you’re unsure which FTP and database details to use, contact your hosting provider.
Also, the destination URL has to be publicly reachable so we can initiate the cloning process.
- In the top-right corner of your ManageWP dashboard, click your avatar, then click Template Builder.
- Under Template Name, click the template you want to clone.
- Click Clone.
- Under Choose destination type, click New website.
- Enter the publicly reachable destination URL and click Test URL.
- After a successful test, the Enter Connection Information section will appear. Enter the FTP and database details.
- If you’ve previously saved the destination credentials, click Choose from list to autofill the form.
- Click Test Credentials.
- Click Save connection info to save successfully tested credentials for future use.
- (Optional) Click Create new admin to add a new admin user on the destination website.
- (Optional) Click Change prefix to change the database prefix. If left blank, the source website prefix will be used.
- (Optional) Click Search engine visibility to adjust this setting on the destination website.
- Click Clone.
- (Optional) Once cloning is complete, check the destination site to confirm that plugins and themes were copied correctly.
